Playing percussion is not just about banging drums! Percussionists need to be precise and picky about their rhythms because they have an extremely important job in an ensemble. If percussionist wish to learn to read music (not just rhythms) they should also learn to play bells.

Physical considerations: Percussionists are expected to stand through rehearsals, so consider stamina for such occasions.

When buying or renting: Percussionists should own or rent a practice pad (or a snare drum) as well as a small bells set if you so choose. They must also purchase their own drumsticks. Please purchase Vic Firth General SD1 sticks.

Extra equipment: folding music stands are optional.
